Our Team


Todd Campbell began his career as motorcycle design engineer at Honda R&D Americas.  Todd moved on to Subaru of Indiana Automotive as a new model engineer and later became a protype design engineer at Subaru R&D splitting time between locations in the US & Japan.  Todd founded Rail Engineering in 2016 as a side project within a motorcycle race team he managed. 


Kenji Watanabe is from Oizumi-Machi Japan and grew up wrenching on airplanes as his family worked at a local aviation manufacturing facility. Kenji started his career as an engineer at Fuji Heavy Industries Aviation (Subaru) and later moved to their car division.  Kenji held multiple positions at Subaru including lead CAP engineer at Subaru R&E Center / Bifuka Proving Grounds. Kenji was also a member of several WRC Rally race teams competing across Japan in the 1990’s and 2000’s.


Jim Zetts started his career as a test engineer at Honda of America Mfg.  Jim’s experience includes prototype vehicle testing at Honda’s Proving Ground locations in the Mojave Desert CA, Baudette MN & Tochigi Japan.  Jim also worked with teams across Honda’s R&D centers and plants in the US & Japan. Jim leads our Rail Moto and Autosport operation in Colorado.


Chase Campbell is our sr. engineering intern and is currently working towards a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Chase grew up racing 125cc 2-stroke dirt bikes and repairing them after school. He is currently tuning a 1993 Nissan 240SX with Garrett turbo setup.


Emily Ross is our operations team intern and oversees the daily operations of the office, ensuring productivity and efficiency. Emily manages a collegiate electric race car team and oversees the development of the car’s electrical and powertrain systems.


Toshiaki Arai is our group mentor who provides valuable advice, guidance and feedback to our team. Toshi worked at Honda’s motorcycle division from the 1970’s to mid 1990’s and worked on popular motorcycles as the Honda Dream, NR-750, VF750 and early Fireblade models.
